Memorable gathering: The children and their parents in a group photo at the end of the fun filled day at Tropicana City Mall

TROPICANA City Mall hosted a special day out for 80 autistic children in conjunction with the festive season and the mall’s fifth anniversary.

The children, who were accompanied by their parents, were treated to a screening of the Disney animation Frozen.

After the movie, everyone took part in the anniversary cake-cutting ceremony followed by lunch hosted by Secret Recipe.

The children also enjoyed a fun exploration adventure at the J Kids Playground & Kids party.

“We decided to host a special day out for them as we feelt that they also deserve to be a part of this society.”

“This day out is also good for the parents as it gives them the confidence to take their children out to the cinema and shopping mall,” he said, adding that the event was organised with the co-operation of Little Triangles.

Little Triangles director Sitra Panirsheeluam said the children’s parents feared that people in public places would not be able to accept autistic children’s condition.

“We must not turn our backs against these children because they must be integrated into society once they have grown up. In order to prepare them, we must aid the children and the parents to overcome their fear of bringing their kids out to have a normal day like other children out there.

“I’m hopeful that more organisations will take part in brightening up the children’s future” she said
